Admissions

Applications to the school are welcome at any time. Pupils may enter the school at any age subject to there being places available in the correct year group.
All enquiries should be initially addressed to the Registrar, Mrs Hothersall. You can contact her on 01253 784104, by email at admissions@keqms.co.uk, or by letter to the school address.

She will require information about your child, particularly his or her date of birth and current school year, so she can address your enquiry to the relevant section head: Mr Karling (Senior School), Mr Rice (Preparatory School) and Ms Reynolds (Kindergarten).

You will be invited to visit the school as an opportunity for you to discuss your child's application with the Principal or Mr Rice. The Registrar will be pleased to arrange this for you.

Academic expectations at King Edward VII and Queen Mary School are high. Most students proceed to higher education, many to leading universities including Oxford and Cambridge. However, we value students not just for academic ability but also for contributions to areas such as sport, music, drama and outdoor pursuits.

Our students represent a range of academic abilities from those for who will achieve passes at GCSE and A level to those who will achieve top grades across the board. We have a Learning Support department for those who require specialist support in English, Maths and study skills. There is also a programme to stretch gifted and talented students. Our intake, therefore, is genuinely wide.
