Business Studies

The Business studies department is a thriving part of the Sixth Form. Students opt for this subject after GCSE as something new and exciting which they haven't done before. There are two sets in each year of the sixth form and it proves to be very popular with the students. We study the AS specification as directed by AQA.

The pass rate in 2010 was again 100%, with one candidate gaining a starred A grade. The other students gained grades in line with expectations. Most students worked hard throughout the two years and some made great improvement on their AS result. 

Business Studies continues to be popular and there was a good take-up of the subject in the new Lower Sixth, including several girls. The AQA course continues to develop. The new A2 specification has certainly become more rigorous: there is a specific area of study for Paper 4, which this year was "the effects of the recession on Business".
