Year 10 History Curriculum Plan

In Year 10 we study AQA Specification B Modern World History.

In written paper 1, section A we study option V and in section B option Y. In written paper 2 we study Germany 1918-1939 and the USA 1919-1941. Our coursework options are the evacuation of children in World War Two and the reasons for American withdrawal from Vietnam. Revision notes for papers 1 and 2 can be found on the school extranet.

The Causes of the First World War

You could try this investigation of the causes or this brief overview from the National Archives site and there are some excellent worksheets and activities here but you will need the password. 

The Treaty of Versailles

Worksheets, powerpoints, quizzes and activities can be found here or you might want to try this penalty shootout game.

There is some useful detail here and some excellent, detailed and clear coverage here.

The League of Nations

Plenty of interactive exercises can be found here. Detailed and comprehensive information on the League in the 1920s can be found here or you may prefer to try this very useful site which is geared towards the AQA specification and provides useful links to other sites and to some podcasts. 

The Causes of the Second World War

You could try an in-depth investigation, the Google Earth tour and various other activities here (password required). Alternatively there is detailed and comprehensive coverage of a range of causes here or this useful revision section.

The Origins of the Cold War

Extensive information to help you revise and check your facts can be found here. Remember it is the origins of the Cold War and events in the years 1945 to 1949 that you need to know. Trench Warfare

Trench Warfare - There are a wealth of useful sites on this topic. The BBC is particularly good including animations and a virtual tour. Alternatively you could try this decision-making game (password required).
