Year 11 History Curriculum Plan

In Year 11 we study AQA Specification B Modern World History.

In written Paper 2 we study Germany 1918-1939 and the USA 1919-1941. Our coursework options are the evacuation of children in World War Two and the reasons for American withdrawal from Vietnam. Revision notes for Papers 1 and 2 can be found on the school extranet.

Germany 1918-1939

Weimar Germany

There is a detailed revision site about Weimar and indeed all aspects of Germany 1918-1939 here. Alternatively, there is plenty of detail on the History Learning Site. There are games galore here including decision-making games and self-marking quizzes. 

Nazi Germany

There are lots of worksheets and handouts here and the chance to interview Adolf Hitler. You could look at some useful revision material on Hitler's rise to power. There is some detailed encyclopaedia like information here - useful for additional revision. There are some excellent online revision exercises and some useful links here. The BBC Bitesize section on Germany is certainly worth a look.

The Boom

You could try this PowerPoint on Boom and Bust or this one on Henry Ford. There is also this interactive revision diagram on who didn't share in the Boom.

The Depression

Here is an interactive revision diagram on the causes of the Wall Street Crash and one on the Impact of the Depression. You could try this comprehensive presentation on the Wall Street Crash. There are also interactive lessons and worksheets on the Crash and Depression (password required). 

The New Deal

You could try this PowerPoint on Alphabet Agencies which includes an example exam question. Here are four interactive revision diagrams on the New Deal. A very comprehensive coverage of all things New Deal can be found at Spartacus.

Evacuation

Here is a very good summary from Spartacus. There is plenty of useful information in this BBC Research Room. The National Archives Exhibition is also very good. 

Vietnam

There are links here to a simulation decision-making game and a 'Fling the Teacher' quiz. This overview of Vietnam is good and the BBC Bitesize coverage is also useful. It is worth looking at this series of links to sites about Vietnam and pictorial coverage from the BBC.
