Year 9 Careers Curriculum Plan

The Careers Department aims to equip all students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to make informed decisions about their future in continued learning and employment.

In the Spring Term, all Year 9 students make their GCSE choices and it is important to support them to make informed and realistic decisions about their options.

• Introduction to the Careers Adviser.
  Form group discussion.
• Effective Decision Making.
  Discussion supported by a handout.
• Exploration of Career Opportunities.
  Use of careers guidance software.
• Option Choices.
  Presentation led by the Director of Studies and the Careers Adviser.
• Individual Guidance Interviews.
  All students receive a guidance interview to explore option choices, reasons for choices and potential implications.
• Parents' Evening.
  Individual interviews with students and parents on request.
