Year 3 visit Roman Ribchester

On Thursday 26th January Year 3 travelled to Ribchester to learn all about the Romans. The museum is dedicated to the Romano-British history of BremetenacumVeteranorum, the Roman name for what is now Ribchester, a picturesque village in central Lancashire which lies on the river Ribble.

The children handled real and replica artefacts, from parts of amphora pots, to oil lamps, to hob nail boots.

The children also get the chance to dress up as a Roman Soldier, either a cavalry member or a centurion.  Careful they can be scary!

Around Ribchester there are many ruins to visit - the granary store remains and even the Roman Baths.

The children really enjoyed the day and learnt lots of new things. They have even got some Roman money to take away with them!
