Are there any scholarships?
Around ten scholarships are awarded each year in Year 7 for academic merit.
How do you win a scholarship?
Academic scholarships are awarded as a result of the pupil’s performance in the Entrance Exam, an interview with the Principal and the report received from the primary school. Scholarships are retained throughout each year of a pupil’s career at the School provided the pupil continues to demonstrate good application to his or her studies.
Are there music scholarships?
Music scholarships are awarded each year to pupils of musical ability and potential who also show good academic ability in the Entrance Exam. There is the opportunity to meet the Director of Music who will conduct a short audition. These auditions take place in January before the Entrance Exam. Further details about music scholarships are available on request from the Admission’s Secretary, Mrs
Hothersall.
Are there Sports scholarships?
Sports Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an assessment before the Entrance Exam. Evidence of sporting achievement may also be submitted in support of an application for a sports scholarship; please contact the school for further details.
Sixth Form
There are scholarships for promising students in maths, music, modern languages, the medical field and sport.
Bursaries
In accordance with the ancient objects of the charity, the Foundation also funds a small number of means tested bursary awards to enable children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the school. Inquiries should be directed in the first instance to the Bursar, Mrs Fox, who will be pleased to talk with parents about financial matters in confidence, either by telephone or in person. Her direct line is 01253 784108.
