The fourth House Music Competition was won, yet again, by Talbot House. Talbot House provided a balanced programme of vocal and instrumental music which was clearly well-rehearsed and compèred with wit and confidence by Joe and Harry McLafferty. Polished and technical performances were given by both solo performers, Iona Flegg (flute) and Daniel Clare (saxophone). The Talbot Choir was awarded the ‘Performance of the Evening' prize due the quality of the presentation and the refined, polished performance.
All performers are to be commended for taking part. Highlights included the vocal talents of Kira Bampton, Jess Hoyle, Becky Ingham, Nicole Brown and Jasmine Brogden. Eccles's Largo was played very elegantly on the viola by Lana Crawforth. One item from each House is known as the ‘Special' and this gives an element of free choice.
This year items included a vocal duet as well as three rock style performances, ‘Chasing Cars', ‘Times like These' and a performance of ‘Cannonball' by Year 7 pupil, George Powlesland.
The adjudicator, Mrs Emma Brown, was impressed by the variety of talent on show and with the enthusiastic and confident performances by all. The large audience of parents, friends and pupils showed their warm appreciation throughout the evening.
