Careers and University Preparation
Making Informed Choices
The quality of the careers and higher education service at KEQMS is outstanding. The Assistant Head of Sixth Form is a fully trained Careers and Higher Education Adviser who works with each sixth former individually. Every sixth former is given individual help in applying to higher education, from choosing the degree course and institution to writing a personal statement and completing the UCAS form. At KEQMS we complete the process by October so that many sixth formers will have received offers well in advance of the deadline for receipt of applications in January.
The Careers Centre is a well appointed resource which also serves as an additional sixth form private study room. The school arranges interview practice for everyone and helps those who need to organise work experience, normally during holidays. We encourage and provide opportunities for sixth formers to visit universities, meet admissions tutors and speak to undergraduates. Nearly all sixth formers proceed to higher education, the vast majority to their first choice university. Destinations include the leading universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, Durham, Manchester and London
