An excellent run for our cross country runners has earnt them a place on the Lancashire Schools team to run at the English Schools Championships in Somerset in March. Geoge Rowley finished 2nd in the U14 boys, Becky Ingham (U14 Girls) finised 16th and in the 13 girls race Emily Hall finished 6th and Chloe Hall 17th.

Becky Ingham reports on her day -
"Freezing. That the only word to describe the weather. But we should be used to that with our great English weather! When we arrived at the park I was so nervous for this was the first time I had ever competed in the Lancashire schools Cross Country championships. As I nervously watched the races the awful feeling was getting closer, only two races to go. My race was soon so I decide to warm up. Not that there was any point in that. The bitter coldness just wrapped round your whole body not letting go. My time was now, as I stepped onto the starting line, you could feel the tension. Bang and we were off. At first I made sure I got a good start then settled into my pace comfortably. As the finish got closer and closer my legs began to tire. I was now only 30 meters from the finish. All you could hear were children crying and gasping for their breaths. I finished breathless and found out I had qualified for the English Schools Championships in March. I deserved my hot cup of tea afterwards and a Macdonalds. It was that cold that the fur on my mum's hood had frozen and one of my toes was completely white"
