Our tennis teams warmed up for our own school 'Wimbledon' championships with a match against Westholme on Friday and it again ended with honours even.
The Year 7 team found the hard courts difficult to adapt to and the hard hitting Westholme team constantly kept us on the back foot and at the base line. Emily Grey and Georgia Raines (who was carrying an injury) won one game but with 3 lost games we lost 1 - 3 overall.
The Year 8 continued their impressive form thanks to excellent play from Ellie Webb & Beth Holyoak who won one and drew the other, whilst a win for Tara Wilson-Danby and Laura Stokes sealed a 2.5-1.5 win.
Both Year 9 & 10 teams drew their matches 2 - 2 with one win each for all four couples.
All the players now have their own 'Wimbledon' with singles and doubles games in all year groups. The finals will be a 'Wimbledon style' event next Tuesday morning on our own grass courts with spectators, umpires (sitting on our own green umpires chairs!) and ball girls.
